Julian Marley and Bushman..LIVE...
22/07/2010
Well Well.
..If ever a couple of gigs should put a venue on the map then this is it...
For the past 3+ years Hootenanny in Brixton London has hosted some of the biggest names in reggae..From The Heptones to Michael Rose to The Wailing Souls this small South London venue has come along at a very important time for the music..
With venues like the 02 Academy and others too big for many reggae acts these days, aside from the festival circuit it is hard save The Jazz Cafe in North London to find anywhere that could stage and promote effectively these smaller shows..
Now we get two mega shows within weeks..First comes London born Marley sibling Julian on the 5th August then on the 12th we have Bushman
Both these shows are serious events for this venue and will be sold out 100% especially as tickets are a paltry £12 !!
Both artists have support AND full backing bands..This is no PA business.
Hootenanny is at 95 Effra Road

Big Up to promoter Cecil Reuben..
Uprising Music Festival 2010
27/04/2010
OK..We are gonna be straight talking about this one.
A great line up of vintage and veteran artists from Barrington to Freddie via Cocoa Tea and new but not so new artist Stevie Face line up with unnamed LIVE band !!
Its sure to be rammed..
Why? Well yes sure the artists assembled here are year to year crowd pleasers and the lack of promotions featuring Jamaican artists is getting very thin on the ground so when something clearly above the average comes up as this manifestly is then its a must, but what is so consistently apparent is that the generation of artists that blossomed in the nineties and after just cant fill venues or draw crowds like the veterans
Does anyone remember Jah Mali...Ras Shiloh...Bushman...Warrior King...Junior Kelly...Yami Bolo...??? The list goes on and on and on...
Well the reasons for this are deep and complicated..But we believe that the 45 and its decline has a lot to do with it...
As the business fragmented after the technological frenzy of the past decade so an amazing and fragile business has been dismantled
Sure there are bright lights but they are few and far between..
The maddening thing as we are on the ground in Kingston for most of the year is that its all there..The passion the love the vibes even the artists..
We need to bring back the big guns..Not to change whats good about todays Jamaican music...Konshens for example is doing great works..but to start producing reggae the world wants but Jamaica does not
So forward Fatis Burrell..Forward Bobby Digital..Forward Donovan Germain...Forward Winston Riley..Forward King Jammys...
PLEASE GET BACK IN THE STUDIOS>>MAKE GREAT REGGAE MUSIC>>WE WILL MANUFACTURE AND DISTRIBUTE>>IS ANYONE LISTENING !!
Prices for this event are not hard times friendly !!

Jah Shaka in SOUTHALL
31/10/2009
Whenever Shaka plays Southall tings always a likkle XTRA !!!
For the legions of Shaka Ites in many ways events here represent a kind of spritual homecoming. For years Southall has produced many of Shakas most fiercly loyal and devoted followers. Why ? Only Jah knows !!
Anyway this will be a total road block. Its on Nov 6th at the Tudor Rose 10pm till late and usual prices. All the regular outlets have tickets but this WILL sell off.
Dont forget to check out our extensive Jah Shaka catalogue on the website SEEN !!
Rootikal at East Village
17/10/2009
This Sunday affair has been running a while..At first reading you could be forgiven for thinking this could be a regular in NYC.Its not.
The venue for this relaxed monthly Roast and Chicken serving event is at 89 Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch London EC2
Starting from 2pm and running till 1 am its as it says on the flyer.ROOTIKAL.
With Ram Jam Rodigan at the controls with support from Earl Trojan Gateshead its well worth a pass through especially as you pay nothing up till 5pm and only a fiver till it done.Cant grumble with that.
Next Date 1st November 2009
Channel One Sound 30th Anniversary !!
17/10/2009
If anything we were surprised this sound was not celebrating 40 years in the business! Still 30 years is a mighty milestone for one of Londons biggest and best Roots sounds who take over Camden Towns very own Dingwalls on Sunday the 25th October 2009.This is not a late session so no work excuses for not checking this one..Doors at 8pm and done by 1am and a recession busting 9 pounds on the door.
Big Up Channel One Sound...
Jah Shaka at The Dome
05/09/2009
It was commented on that a Shaka dance does not need promotion..So the conversation went that all Nicky at Culture Promotions has to do is to print a few flyers and the dance a go ram !!
Well thats as maybe but at LionVibes we know that no dance is guaranteed to be full. What is guaranteed is an opportunity to catch one of the true Sound System greats in action. The 12th September at The Dome...Dartmouth Park Hill N19 5QQ venue of many a classic rootsman showdown
Jah Shaka has a new LP due anyday too called The Postive Message..Cant Wait !!
Tickets £14 B/F...£18 on the door..
Gates from 9pm till 3AM...
3 Big Giants Pt2...
17/08/2009
If any show is a reminder of how different the UK and Yard social scenes are then this is it..As hard as it maybe to believe a promotion like this in Kingston would almost certainly flop...Forever obsessed by slack dancehall and a thirst for all things brand and new that cant quench...Kingstons nightlife (Rae Town excepted) is predictably formulaic and hollow.
London on the other hand swings wildly to the other side.
The 3 Big Giants promotion featuring hall of fame sound systems Jah Sufferer Fatman and Sir Jessus will be heartical to the bone. Its what Londoners want and its what they get.
Brixton Town Hall will play host on the 4th Sept 09..Only 10 pounds to get in and guaranteed heavyweight roots rub a dub will play..
Its only sad that for now a night like this in Kingston is but a dream..How can this be !!
